A516GR70 (SA516GR70, SA516Grade70, ASME A516GR70) steel Sheet, plate
The most common grade, ASTM A51670, is a medium carbon alloy designed for
use in pressure vessels and boilers.
Another trade name for A51670 plate is PVQ Plate (Pressure Vessel Quality).
Pressure vessel grades play a vital role in a variety of demanding applications,
including oil and gas and power generation.
It is a high strength metal, easy to fabricate and can be securely welded.
A51670 plate also has low corrosion properties. This standard has been approved
for use by offices underneath the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense
Common Uses of A516 Steel Plate
Example applications include: Rail car tanks, manways, sump applications,
car heads and shells.
ASTM A516 STEEL (GRADE 70) is similar to A515 but is intended for lower
temperature applications. It is also silicon killed, but has a finer grain and
improved notched toughness. Stocked in an as rolled condition and charpy
tested.
